Chemical Properties:

White or off-white crystalline powder. Melting point 330-331℃. Soluble in ethanol, slightly soluble in acetone, chloroform, methanol, insoluble in water, easily soluble in sodium hydroxide solution. Odorless, slightly bitter taste.

use:

Fast-acting antihypertensive drugs. This product can lower the blood pressure of patients with hypertension in both lying and standing positions, and is a first-aid drug for patients with hypertensive crisis. Diuretics must be used simultaneously during clinical use. It is contraindicated in patients with severe hypertension, congestive heart failure, diabetes and renal insufficiency.

production method:

It is obtained by high-temperature cyclization of 5-chloro-2-acetamido-N-acetylbenzenesulfonamide. The cyclization reaction was carried out at 250-260°C and stirred for 15 minutes. Then cool, grind the material until it solidifies, and wash with ethanol to obtain crude diazoxide. Recrystallize with 40 times the amount of 80% ethanol to obtain the finished product.
